A look back and a big welcome
Blix has come a long way since it was founded in 2001, evolving
into the digitally focused marketing agency it is today. We provide
innovative web design and development, digital marketing and
exceptional service to an ever-growing international customer
base.
As a result the Blix family continues to grow and now consists
of four designer/developers, three digital marketers and little ol'
me providing the administration support. With a combined
knowledge of 49 years working in the online space we are able to
compete in an ever evolving industry where online visibility,
digital marketing and a good quality website are all important
components of business success.
In early 2012 the decision was taken to leave our lovely
converted Barn in St. Andrews and relocate to St. Peter Port to
better serve our local clients and to be able to work more
effectively with our strategic partners. In April 2012, Blix
HQ relocated to Maison Allaire, a beautiful listed building located
within the hustle and bustle of town.
In July 2013 continued growth of our client base locally and in
the US necessitated the appointment of someone to focus solely on
the administration side of the business…that'll be me!
Having worked in the world of Finance for 20 years I decided to
walk away from it to join the lads at Team Blix. That
decision has probably been one of the best decisions I have ever
made and I've not looked back since. When I first joined Blix
I had to quickly get used to the transition from working within a
large team of mostly females within a large US based Financial
Institution to working within a small office of men within an
industry that I literally knew nothing about.
I've learnt a lot since and quickly realised that having locked
away my creative talents for 16 years to raise a family, it was now
time to dust it down and embrace it once more. So, whilst my
role is predominantly invoicing, accounts and administration, I
have also been writing blogs and getting involved with content
population and learning a bit about coding and design too - and
loving it! You could say that the geek in me is rearing its little
head!
I really don't know where the time has gone and find it hard to
believe that I've been working here for over a year already.
As exciting times lay ahead for Blix, I can honestly say that I'm
proud to be a part of it.
The latest recruits
Earlier this year, we had to say goodbye to Jamie from our
marketing team as he left Blix to start a new life with his
girlfriend in London. So the hunt began for another digital
marketer that resulted in the appointment of Tom Offen who started
in August.
Tom is now just over a month into his first role within the
world of full-time employment having joined us straight from
Portsmouth University where he was studying journalism. Tom
brings with him plenty of experience in social media having been a
pundit on the local radio, Twitter and Facebook for Guernsey FC and
premiership football matches.
Tom hit the ground running and had achieved his Google AdWords
qualification within the first few weeks. He is now working
with a number of clients to assist them in engaging their target
audiences online. He is also proving difficult to beat at
FIFA 14.
In the last couple of weeks Team Blix has also welcomed Claire
Mockett to the design and development team. Initially from
Bournemouth but having moved to the island several years ago,
Claire has over 8 years of digital design experience behind
her. She is already securing her seat within the team by
providing original and creative ideas whilst also starting to build
her own portfolio of clients.
In her spare time, Claire likes to play the drums and so I'm
sure that future Christmas Parties will see us dancing to the beat
of drums whilst Nigel tinkles along on the piano….Could this be the
start of the Blix Band?!
To summarise, Team Blix has gone from strength to strength since
its humble days in the Barn and now boasts an expanding,
experienced and committed team that enjoys good leadership and
support from Nigel, Dom and Ben…that and regular supplies of
coffee, cake and the Mexican Club sandwich!
